Topic: Bollywood: Past Challenges and Effects of The Pandemic

 

A National webinar was organized by Department of History, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College, Kolkata in collaboration with IQAC, VJRC for faculties of various disciplines on 9th August 2020 at 5 PM. At the onset Dr. Samiparna Rakshit, Head of the Department of History extended a warm welcome on behalf of Department of History, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College  to the esteemed speakers, Prof Madhuja Mukherjee, Professor of Film Studies, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, and Sri Kumud Mishra, eminent Bollywood actor and famous theatre personality, respected Principal Ma’am, Dr. Rajyasri Neogy, Teachers’ Council Secretary Dr. Amalendu Majumdar, IQAC Coordinators Dr. Prasenjit Das, HOD, Department of Microbiology and Dr. Sampa Debnath, Associate Professor, Dept of Microbiology and also welcomed respected faculty members of different colleges and universities of West Bengal and from outside West Bengal from Assam, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Orissa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh,  colleagues and students to the One Day National Webinar.  The programme was inaugurated by the inspiring welcome address of Dr. Rajyasri Neogy, Principal, VJRC. Total 68 faculties and students from various colleges and universities of India actively participated in the webinar on Google meet platform. The speakers Prof. Madhuja Mukherjee and Mr. Kumud Mishra were formally introduced by the convenor of the webinar Dr. Samiparna Rakshit. Prof. Mukherjee delivered her lecture on the topic 'Bombay Cinema Uninterrupted: On how the show goes on” and Mr. Kumud Mishra spoke about the ‘Effect of Pandemic on Bollywood’. Faculties and students placed their interesting questions in the Question-Answer session which also lasted for half an hour. The webinar was ended with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Samiparna Rakshit, Convenor and Hod of the Department of History, VJRC.
