CELEBRATION OF NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY 2022

The Department of Mathematics & IQAC, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray college in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics & IQAC, Netaji Nagar Day college organized a special lecture on Mathematics and an Inter-college Quiz competition for UG Students on 22nd December, 2022 to celebrate the National Mathematics Day 2022: the 135th Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan at 12 NOON onwards in the Rabindra Sabhagriha, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray college. The Programme was started with the keynote speech of the Principal Madam, Dr. Rajyasri Neogy. The chief guest of the programme was Dr.Sonali Banerjee (Jash), Principal of Netaji Nagar Day college. In the first part of the programme there was a special lecture by Dr. Ushnish Sarkar, Assistant Professor, NSOU. The selected essays of the students of various colleges of the Inter college essay competition of 2021 was published as a form of a book in this programme. In the second part of the programme there was the inter college quize competition where students of eight different colleges of Kolkata (Heritage Institute of Technology, Asutosh College, Vivekananda College, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College, Netaji Nadar Day College, Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Narendrapur, New Alipore College, Dinabandhu Andrews College) had participated in the competition. Total 15 teams from those colleges took part in the competition where each team contained 2 participants. Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Narendrapur stood 1st, Asutosh College stood 2nd and Heritage Institute of Technology stood 3rd in Quiz competition. All the participants of quiz competition got certificate of participation and the winners got prize and certificate of merit. A total of 47 participants took part in this event following the covid protocols. The event ended with a vote of thanks from the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Prasenjit Das.
