Botany as Honours subject has been given affiliation by the University of Calcutta in the year 1998 and the department has been raised to Honours Department. From 1998 onwards the courses taught in the Department include a) Honours/Advance courses for the students of Botany Honours, (b) Pass/General course for students of Zoology (advance), Microbiology (advance) c) General for the students of general stream i.e. students studying without any Honours subject.
