Dr. Laxmi Saha (M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D. in Philosophy)

Dr. Saha is currently appointed as an ASSISTANT PROFESSOR in DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY, VIJAYGARH JYOTISH RAY COLLEGE, KOLKATA. She is currently serving as HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT. She has a teaching experience in the field of Philosophy for 12 years. She was awarded with silver medallion for securing overall 1^st class 2^nd Position in MA Philosophy at North Bengal University in 2005 in She had completed her M.Phil. in Philosophy in 2007 and doctoral thesis on "FEMINISM: AN ISSUE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE AND EQUALITY “in 2015. She had successfully qualified UGC-NET for Assistant Professorship in July 2018. Her area of interest in teaching includes Indian Philosophy, Western Philosophy, Indian Epistemology, Nyaya Epistemology, Man and Environment and Human Rights. She majorly focuses on different aspects of feminism and related philosophy in her research. She had published 3 research papers and one book chapter in journals and edited volumes of national and international repute. She had also participated in several debate competitions and secured positions in those events.

In addition to her regular academic responsibilities, she had served as convener in an extramural institution linked FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME in 2020 and course coordinator of a VALUE-ADDED COURSE ON YOGA. She also perpetrates her administrative responsibilities as a part of several committee and cells at Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College.

Academic Activities

Serving as HOD at the Department of Philosophy, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College, Dr. Laxmi Saha is responsible for conducting departmental faculty meets regarding syllabus distribution, distribution of responsibilities among faculty members of the department for successful execution of internal and tutorial examination and evaluation of theoretical answerscripts and uploading of marks at University portal as well as carrying out different departmental activities. Dr, Saha is also responsible for dissemination of important notices and announcements from the institution and the affiliating University to students and also addresses their grievances regarding different academic, admission and examination related issues. From teaching point of view, she is equally responsible as other faculty members of the department in teaching different aspects of philosophy based on prescribed syllabus of the affiliating University.    

Administrative Activities

Being the Head of the department, Dr. Saha is responsible for proper maintenance of departmental records, conducting faculty meets, parent teacher meets, act as a liason between the college administration and the department. In addition, Dr. Saha holds posts in several administrative units and cells and is responsible for proper functioning of the cell.

Other Professional Activities

She had served as course convener of a One Week Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Educational Video Creation (E-Content Development) organized by Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College in collaboration with Toshniwal Arts, Commerce & Science College, Sengaon, and Maharashtra. She is also the co-ordinator of Certificate Course on Application of Yoga and Yogshastra for Healthy Lifestyle being offered by Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College.

Dr. Saha had participated in several career development and faculty development programs conducted by UGC-HRDC of different Universities. She had participated and delivered lectures in several seminars and debate competitions and had secured positions in those competitions.

Dr. Saha delivered a Keynote Lecture (as a Resource Person) at the One Day Departmental Seminar on " YOGA and WELL-BEING", on 10 th june 2022 at Bamunpukur Humayun Kabir Mahavidyalaya, Bamunpukur, North 24 Parganas, W.B.

Dr. Laxmi Saha delivered a speech on YOGA FOR HUMANITY on June 21, 2022, on INTERNATION YOGA DAY,2022, organised by Sonarpur Mathurapur Childhood Welfare Society.

Dr. Saha delivered a speech in a WOMEN CONFERENCE, on 26th June, 2022, organised by Awakened Conscience Humane Society, Jamat-E-Islami Hind.

Dr. saha delivered a speech on 'Swami Vivekanada', on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda's birthday on 12th January, 2023, in a programme organised by Anaandapally Nivedita Academy in collaboration with Vijaygarh Jyotish ray College, kolkata-32.

Presented a paper at the National seminar the challenges and " The Challenges and the Opportunities of Best Practices in Higher Education held at Vijaygarh Jyotish Roy College, Kolkata -32 on  15th January 2020 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. organised by IQAC Vijaygarh  Jyotish Ray college in collaboration with National Assessment and Accreditation Council ( NAAC).
