DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PROGRAMME:
The Department of Mathematics, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray college, Kolkata has conducted an offline Special Lecture on the significance of National Mathematics Day, an Intra-college Essay competition for UG students on “The Origin of Zero” and a film show for students, on 23rd December, 2019 to celebrate the National Mathematics Day 2019: the 132nd Birth Anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan at 12 NOON onwards in the Virtual room, Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray college. The Programme was started with the keynote speech of the Principal Madam, Dr. Rajyasri Neogy. Then there was a special lecture by Mr. Debashis Chetarjee, HOD and Associate Professor, VJRC. Around 30 students were present in the programme. 15 students from different science Departments had participated in Essay Competition. 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders were awarded and all the participants got certificate of participation. Then a film show named “The Man who Knew Infinity” based on the life of Srinivasa Ramanujan was shown.
